Let These Bathroom Trends Soak In
As we enter the second month of 2018, we want to highlight some more design and decor trends for this upcoming year. Our focus this time around will be bathrooms – we’ll give you tips and tricks to upgrade your bathroom, turn it into your own personal spa, and enjoy it’s look and feel for years to come. So, without further ado, here are some of our favorite tips for turning your bathroom into a room you’ll want to spend more time in:
Use one material – this trend definitely made a splash in the 80’s, but it’s back again. But rather than imagining the bubblegum pink or similarly gaudy colors from decades gone by, picture the sleek look of white or muted gray throughout the space. Maybe take a look back though our last design trends post for some inspiration on how to make tile or concrete the one material for your elegant, modern spa.
Install a deep soaking tub – for the extra spa day feel, a bathtub is the perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine, some candles, and soft music. Round out the full spa feel with smooth river stones and some greenery. If the architecture of your home allows it, you may even try installing the tub in your room! This design is great for a wonderfully romantic evening in with your honey bunches. If making a tub a permanent statement in your bedroom isn’t your style, try it out at Urban Cowboy B&B here in Nashville for a weekend!
Have a floating vanity – hiding away all of the plumbing under the sink is not only a great way to provide more space to a smaller bathroom, the sharp, clean minimalism has always had a place in modern design. This look is sure to remain trendy for years to come. By tucking all of the plumbing components behind a skirt of wood or stone, you’re guaranteed a simplified vanity and counter area that is sure to feel less cluttered and more relaxing.
Put up some wallpaper – since the bathroom is almost always one of the smallest rooms in the house, using it to experiment with wallpaper is the perfect option for the decorator on a budget. Though, you can always scale it up for bright splashes of color or bold statement designs. Hey, you can even get the removable kind if you’re renting – wallpaper is a great way to make a statement without breaking the bank.
Hopefully these tips provide you with some great ideas to get started converting your bathroom into a spa. Whether you go for the clean and simple lines of an ultra-modern look, a splash of color through wallpaper, or the more traditional look with wood, stones, and greenery, we hope you’ll get some much needed R&R in your bathroom new retreat!
